My passion is hearing people's stories both in memoir writing classes, and drawing them out with personal interviews to create heirloom books. I hope to inspire people to preserve their family legacy. Each of our lives is unique and comprised of one story after another. During our family reunions my Nana would raise her hand in the air and say, “It’s my turn! I have a story to tell!” When the talking died down so she could take her turn she always had a good story to tell. She died a few years ago and I deeply regret that we did nothing to preserve her stories. A big part of our family legacy was lost. I am committed to helping people create and save their own family legacies through memoir writing classes, legacy letters, and helping to create heirloom books to pass down to their children and grandchildren.
I offer guided memoir writing classes and am a certified instructor trained by methods developed by Dr. James Birren, renowned professor and author. Each week class members write a 2 page story on a theme inspired by priming questions and read it to a small group. Each meeting includes instruction on autobiography and tools to inspire your writing. The process fosters supportive and closely bonded groups.
